On the 29th of October 2024, Valencia experienced a record amount of rainfall with some towns flooded with over 700 litres of water per square metre in just 12 hours, affecting over 80 municipalities within the autonomous communities.
What is a DANA?
A DANA (Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos, or Isolated Depression at High Altitudes) is a meteorological phenomenon that occurs when a mass of cold air becomes isolated at high levels of the atmosphere, interacting with warm, humid air at the surface. This interaction can lead to torrential rain and extreme weather events.
What impact did the DANA have?
Over 306,000 people were affected, with 11,242 homes damaged, 141,000 vehicles impacted, and 800 kilometres of roads damaged, resulting in over 190,000 claims for compensation.
Around 150,000 people lost electricity, and worse still, approximately 600,000 did not have access to potable water.
Approximately 800,000 tonnes of debris were generated, displacing an estimated 40 million cubic metres of material.
The economic impact exceeded 17 billion euros, making it one of the ten most costly natural disasters of 2024.
Supporting the Valencian Community

When we began the Costa Blanca Mustang Owners Club it was a way of connecting with people in our community, and a fun way to support it by raising funds for organisations that do important work, such as INCLIVA.
Naturally, when the DANA occurred in October we didn’t hesitate to lend a helping hand.
To continue helping our community, we believe it’s important to use our platform to raise awareness for the organisations that continue to help the Valencian community.
As of April 2025, PreZero reported having handled over 200,000 tonnes of waste.
Fundació Horta Sud reported in May 2025, that they managed to raise €115,000 for the 70 fallero commissions affected by the DANA
And if you would like to join us in supporting our community, our next endeavour is raising funds for cancer research where you can make a donation that could help transform lives.
